Short Answer

Evaluating a Producer's Choice

A self-sufficient farmer can choose combinations of daily free time and grain production, limited by a production possibility boundary. The farmer's personal satisfaction from different combinations is represented by a series of preference curves, where higher curves mean more satisfaction.

Suppose the farmer is at a point on their production boundary where they are willing to give up 3 bushels of grain for one more hour of free time, but producing for one less hour would only reduce their grain output by 2 bushels.

Explain why the farmer is not at their optimal point of satisfaction and describe what they should do to improve their situation.
