Evaluating Explanations for the 'Second Shift'

Many studies show that even when both partners in a heterosexual couple work full-time, women often perform a disproportionately larger share of unpaid household labor and childcare, a phenomenon sometimes called the 'second shift'. Critically evaluate how (1) differences in preferences, (2) imbalances in bargaining power, and (3) social norms might each contribute to explaining this persistent pattern. In your answer, argue which of these factors, or combination of factors, offers the most robust explanation and justify your reasoning.
