Example of Blocking: Forgetting an Actor's Name
A common example of blocking is the 'tip-of-the-tongue' phenomenon, where a person struggles to recall a piece of information they know is stored in their memory. For instance, someone might try to remember the name of the actor Morgan Freeman. They can easily recall his distinctive voice, picture his face, and list films he starred in, such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Dark Knight trilogy, but his name remains just out of reach. This temporary inability to access the stored information is a frustrating but common memory error.
