Example of Cognitive Bias in Depression

An individual with a depressive schema centered on rejection may exhibit cognitive biases in social situations. For instance, they might be hyper-vigilant for signs of disapproval, such as another person's frown. They may then interpret this neutral or ambiguous cue as a definitive sign of personal rejection and, in turn, automatically bring to mind past experiences of being rejected, reinforcing their negative self-view.
