Explaining Stagflation with Economic Data

Between 1973 and 1975, the United States saw its inflation rate rise from 6.2% to 9.1% and its unemployment rate grow from 4.9% to 8.5%. Over the same period, Spain's inflation climbed from 11.4% to 17% and its unemployment rose from 2.7% to 4.7%. Based on this information, explain why the economic condition in both countries is referred to as 'stagflation'.
