Farrukh's Quest in Turkestan and the Night Imagery in Section 62 of the Khosrow Nameh

In Section 62 of the Khosrow Nameh, Farid al-Din Attar depicts Farrukh's arrival in Turkestan (the land of the King of China) in search of Gol. The narrative transitions from his arrival at the palace to a stealthy nocturnal quest. Attar uses rich and dramatic night imagery, comparing the darkness to a terrifying resurrection night, a drunken dark-skinned man (zangi), and soot blown across the world. This intense atmosphere emphasizes the difficulty, danger, and secrecy of Farrukh's quest as he moves through the dark streets, evading watchdogs to find Gol's whereabouts.
