Figure 3.5 displays Karim's preferences using a set of indifference curves. The graph plots daily free time on the horizontal axis (from 8 to 24 hours) against consumption spending in euros on the vertical axis (from 0 to 600). Each point is represented by coordinates of (hours of free time, consumption spending). The indifference curves shown have three key properties: they are downward-sloping, convex to the origin, and nearly parallel to one another.
