Figure 1.11 illustrates the composition of the labor market by segmenting the horizontal axis of the supply-side model. The total working-age population is marked at the far right end of the axis. The number of inactive people is represented by the segment between the working-age population and the labor force. Similarly, the number of unemployed individuals is shown as the segment between the total labor force and the number of employed people (N).
