Flat-Rate Pricing for Repeatable Service Work

Flat-rate pricing gives the customer a single predetermined price for a clearly defined task before the work starts. It is most effective when the job is repeatable and the expected labor time and material usage stay within a fairly tight range, such as replacing a wall outlet, swapping a light switch, installing a ceiling fixture, changing a hardwired smoke alarm, or replacing a standard breaker.

Advantage: The customer knows the cost up front, which makes approval easier and faster. If the crew completes the job efficiently, the contractor keeps the extra margin created by finishing under the assumed time.

Risk: If the pricebook is not updated to reflect current labor, parts, or overhead costs, each standard job can quietly lose margin even though the price looks fixed.
