Concept
From Loving Contemplation to Annihilation in the Beloved in Jami's Tale of Vamiq
Vamiq describes an increasingly inward purpose for his search: first, withdrawal with Azra from society; then, total contemplation of her; finally, liberation from duality by becoming one with the beloved. The tale thus transforms human longing into a mystical image of self-annihilation, in which the distinction between lover and beloved disappears.
