خورده دانی گفت با وامق به راز
کای ز داغ عشق عذرا در گداز

می بری عمری به سر در جست و جوی
چیست مقصودت ز جست و جو بگوی

گفت مقصود آنکه با عذرا به هم
روی خویش اندر یکی صحرا نهم

در میان بادیه گیرم وطن
بر سر یک چشمه باشم خیمه زن

دوست زانجا دور و دشمن نیز هم
جان ز خلق آسوده و تن نیز هم

گر روم هر سو دو صد فرسنگ بیش
نایدم از آدمی دیار پیش

دیده گردد مو به مو اعضای من
قبله رویم شود عذرای من

با هزاران دیده رو سویش کنم
تا ابد نظاره رویش کنم

بلکه از نظاره هم یکسو شوم
وز دویی آزاد گردم او شوم

تا دویی باقی بود دوری بود
جان اسیر داغ مهجوری بود

چون نهد عاشق به کوی وصل گام
جز یکی می در نگنجد والسلام

English translation

A discerning observer spoke in secret to Vamiq: 'O you who are melting from the brand of Adhra's love, You spend a lifetime in search and quest; Tell me, what is your purpose in this search?' He said: 'The purpose is that, together with Adhra, I may set my face toward a desert, And make my home in the midst of the wilderness, And pitch my tent beside a single spring, Where both friend and foe are far away, And both soul and body are at peace from mankind. If I travel more than two hundred leagues in any direction, May no human soul cross my path. Every single hair of my body would become an eye, And my Adhra would become the Qiblah of my face. With thousands of eyes, I would turn toward her, To gaze upon her countenance for all eternity. Nay, indeed, I would even transcend the act of gazing, And, freed from duality, I would become her. As long as duality remains, there is distance, And the soul remains captive to the pain of separation. When the lover takes a step into the lane of union, Nothing but the One can be contained, and that is all.'
