*Streptococcus pyogenes* infection can cause Glomerulonephritis even thought it does not directly infect the glomerulus in the kidneys. Long-lasting *S. pyogenes* skin or throat infections can cause the glomeruli to become inflamed due to antigens caused by *S. pyogenes*.
