Historical Example of Malthusian Outcomes: China and India

The economic histories of pre-modern China and India can be seen as examples of Malthus's Law in action. Despite having relatively advanced economies for their time, these regions did not experience sustained increases in living standards. Instead, their economic sophistication supported large and growing populations that remained at a low, subsistence-level income until the modern era.
