Households as Producers of the Future Labor Force

Beyond producing goods and services for internal consumption, households have the fundamental economic role of producing people. This process involves combining the labor of parents and caregivers with household structures and equipment to raise and develop the next generation. These individuals eventually become the labor force for firms and form the basis of future households.
