Implications of Exclusion ABA Research

If nonverbal autists are excluded from ABA research, it implies that the results of these research studies are very flawed. This is especially concerning given that nonverbal autists are in ABA programs for much longer than their verbal counterparts, suggesting that ABA may work significantly less for nonverbal or "low-functioning" autists. The misleading results of these research studies may be harmful as they may encourage autism treatment plans that aren't quite as effective for the individual seeking care.
