Incorporating Aggregate Demand to Explain Persistent Unemployment

To understand how an economy can sustain unemployment levels above the structural rate, the WS-PS supply-side model must be expanded to incorporate the aggregate demand side. Integrating aggregate demand provides the analytical tools necessary to explain the phenomenon of persistent unemployment and to clarify the stabilization roles of governments and central banks.
