Increasing Reading Comprehension and Engagement Through Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction- Results
For data analysis, 5 CORI, 7 SI, and 3 TI classrooms were used. Overall, in Study 2, at posttest, CORI students showed higher passage reading comprehension than TI students, with no differences occurring at pretest. CORI students performed better than SI and TI students on the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Comprehension Test given at posttest. CORI students also exceeded SI students on intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and a combined motivation measure.
