Increasing Reading Comprehension and Engagement Through Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction- Study 2: Method/Procedure
There were 9 CORI, 11 SI, and 4 TI classrooms. As in Study 1, researchers used equivalent groups pretest-posttest design. Program structure was similar to Study 1 in terms of duration of instruction and content covered. CORI, SI, and TI were provided in 90-minute lessons, daily for 12 weeks from the second week in September to the second week in December. TI consisted of frequent text interaction with a variety of books. The books provided to the CORI teachers were almost identical to those used in Study 1.
