Influence of Racial Bias on Weapon Identification
Research indicates that implicit racial prejudice and stereotypes can significantly alter perceptual processes. For example, studies have found that non-Black participants are quicker to identify weapons, and more likely to incorrectly perceive harmless objects as weapons, when the object is visually paired with an image of a Black person.

Learn After
In a research study, participants are briefly shown a picture of either a Black or a White face. Immediately after, they are shown an ambiguous, blurry image of an object and must identify it as either a 'tool' or a 'weapon' as quickly as possible. Based on established psychological principles concerning perception and prejudice, what is the most probable outcome of this experiment?
