Interpretation of the Lorenz Curve Axes and Points

A Lorenz curve plots the cumulative population, ordered from poorest to richest, along the horizontal axis. The vertical axis shows the cumulative share of total income or wealth held by that portion of the population. Therefore, the height of the curve at any given point on the horizontal axis reveals the percentage of total wealth owned by the corresponding cumulative percentage of the population.
