Interpreting Standardized Test Data in Admissions

An admissions officer at a university is reviewing two conflicting reports. Report A shows a positive correlation between the standardized test scores of admitted students and their first-year grade point averages (GPA). Report B, a meta-analysis of several studies, concludes that while this correlation exists, its predictive power is often significantly overstated. Based on the conclusion in Report B, analyze the potential flaw in relying heavily on standardized test scores as the primary tool for forecasting student success.
