Concept
Irony, Mock Interpretation, and Accidental Truth in Jami's Tale of the Dream Interpreter
This tale explores the reversal by which a dream interpreter's mocking advice proves literally true. The interpreter dismisses the simpleton yet inadvertently directs him toward the treasure foretold in the dream. Jami uses situational irony to contrast human intention with outcomes beyond human foresight: ridicule becomes guidance, apparent foolishness enables discovery, and an insincere interpretation acquires genuine meaning through its fulfillment.
