Jerry Hausman's 1996 Study on Cereal Demand

The demand curve for Apple Cinnamon Cheerios is derived from a 1996 study by economist Jerry Hausman. To construct the model, Hausman analyzed weekly sales data for breakfast cereals from numerous U.S. cities, estimating the relationship between the price per pound and the quantity that consumers in a typical city would be willing to purchase.
