Key Physiological Systems in the Stress Response

The body's physiological reaction to stress is complex, primarily orchestrated by two major systems: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. The SNS provides a rapid response to a perceived threat, while the HPA axis, being endocrine-based, reacts more slowly.
