Least Common Multiple

The least common multiple (LCM) of two numbers is defined as the smallest numerical value that is a multiple of both numbers. For example, the multiples of 1212 are 12,24,36,48,12, 24, 36, 48, \dots while those for 1818 are 18,36,54,18, 36, 54, \dots. Because 3636 is the lowest value present in both sequences, the LCM of 1212 and 1818 is 3636. Finding the LCM is especially helpful when identical values are required across two quantities, like calculating a shared denominator for adding fractions.
