Limitations of Effect of Hydroxychloroquine in Hospitalized Patients with COVID-19: Preliminary results from a multi-centre, randomized, controlled trial.
Though these findings suggest that hydroxychloroquine is an ineffective treatment for hospitalized COVID-19 patients, this study does not address its use as a prophylactic treatment or it use for patients with less severe COVID-19 that can be managed in the community. Additionally, these trials were not blinded or placebo controlled and "usual standard of care" and criteria for discharge are not operatively defined.
