Limitations of Self-Report in Psychological Inquiry
Relying on individuals to explain their own behavior has significant limitations. A person may be unwilling or uncomfortable to answer honestly, or they may be incapable of answering, such as in the case of an infant. This makes direct questioning an unreliable method in many research situations.
