Factors of Interpersonal Attraction
Matching Hypothesis
The matching hypothesis proposes that people tend to select partners whom they perceive as being their equal in terms of physical attractiveness and social desirability. This suggests that individuals weigh a potential mate's attractiveness against their own, considering the likelihood of acceptance or rejection, rather than simply pursuing the most attractive person available.
