Characteristics and Management of Millennials in the Workforce
Millennials (born 1979-1994) exhibit a unique set of characteristics and expectations in the workplace. They are technologically sophisticated, self-confident, and place a high value on work-life balance, often resisting traditional career notions like 'paying their dues.' Their expectations include having numerous choices regarding work schedules and job duties, as well as receiving ample training and education from their employers. Due to a general lack of inherent company loyalty, retaining Millennials is a key management challenge. Effective strategies for attraction and retention include offering strong benefit packages, building a positive company brand, and nurturing employees through frequent rewards, praise, and constructive feedback.
