Mixed-Methods Research

Mixed-methods research is an integrated methodology that combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches to comprehensively investigate psychological questions. While some researchers have historically characterized qualitative research as optimal for identifying behaviors or phenomena, and quantitative research as best for understanding meaning or identifying mechanisms, mixed-methods research aims to break down this arbitrary divide. By utilizing both approaches together, researchers can achieve a deeper understanding of human behavior than either method could provide alone.
