Short Answer

Movie Night Decision

A student is deciding whether to go to a movie. The enjoyment they get from the movie is valued at $40, and the ticket costs $15. Their only other alternative for the evening is to work a part-time job, where they would earn $50. There are no costs associated with working. Based on the rule that an action should be taken if its net benefit exceeds its opportunity cost, should the student go to the movie? Explain your reasoning by calculating the relevant values.
