NIH Guidelines for Animal Research

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines represent federal standards that govern the humane care, treatment, and use of nonhuman animals in scientific research. Compliance with these guidelines is mandatory for any research facility that receives federal funding and is monitored locally by an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
