Oedipus Complex

In Freudian theory, the Oedipus complex is a conflict experienced by boys during the phallic stage, characterized by a desire for the mother and feelings of jealousy and rivalry toward the father. The complex derives its name from the Greek myth of Oedipus, who unknowingly killed his biological father and married his biological mother. Freud proposed that boys successfully resolve this conflict by identifying with their fathers, which serves as an indirect way to possess the mother.
