Concept
Overestimation of PCE Advantages for Individuals Without ADHD
Research consistently shows that PCEs offer only modest or inconsistent academic benefits for healthy individuals, with little impact on complex thinking or long-term performance. Despite this, many healthy users believe these drugs significantly boost their academic success, often overestimating their effectiveness. This gap between perception and evidence contributes to the normalization of off-label use, even though the actual cognitive advantage may be minimal or placebo-driven.
