Perceived usefulness (PU) is the degree to which an individual believes that using a specific form of information technology will benefit their goals. If the perceived usefulness of a technology is too low, individuals will lack the motivation to adopt it, as it fails to present a sufficient benefit.

The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) created by Fred Davis in 1989, is the most widely used model in determining factors that’ll affect a person’s acceptance of new technology. The TAM model focuses on two main factors: Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), and Perceived Usefulness (PU). According to the TAM model, external variables influence individuals' internal beliefs, and the sequential relationship between individuals' personal beliefs, attitudes, and behavioral intentions leads them to use the actual system.

Perceived enjoyment is the intrinsic motivation or affective factor that influences the user’s acceptance of the technology. It’s the degree of which the technological service is considered to be enjoyable, making using the technology “worth it” or not. 
Recent researchers believe that Perceived Enjoyment is the "missing" aspect to the Technology Acceptance Model, and have been proposing this as a new, important, category.

Perceived Enjoyment in Information Technology Systems

PEU refers to the degree of which someone believes that using a specific information technology system will be simple and relatively free of physical or mental effort. In the context of social media, PEU refers to the degree to which social media sites are easy to use.
