Perpendicular Line Slope Notation

In algebraic contexts, to clearly differentiate the slope of an initial referenced line from the slope of a line running perfectly perpendicular to it, a specialized subscript notation is employed. If the original line has a slope designated as mm, the slope of any intersecting perpendicular line is denoted utilizing mm_{\perp}. The subscript is the perpendicular icon (\perp), which visually reflects a horizontal baseline met by a straight vertical segment at a strict right angle, functioning as a continuous reminder of the perpendicular connection between the axes. Because perpendicular lines naturally possess negative reciprocal slopes, the value assigned to mm_{\perp} immediately equates to 1m-\frac{1}{m}.
