Determining if Lines are Perpendicular from their Equations

To determine whether two lines are perpendicular given their linear equations, apply this verification process: first, rewrite each equation into slope-intercept form (y=mx+by = mx + b) to clearly identify their slopes. Next, compare the two resulting slopes to see if they are opposite reciprocals. This is confirmed by multiplying the two slopes together; if their product is exactly 1-1, the original lines are perpendicular.
