Pollution during the British Industrial Revolution

A major negative consequence of the British Industrial Revolution was widespread environmental pollution. The extensive burning of coal for power in factories and homes resulted in severe air pollution, blanketing industrial cities in smoke and soot. Additionally, industrial waste and untreated human sewage were commonly dumped into rivers, leading to significant water contamination and public health crises.
