Prevalence of Mental Health Disorders and Screening Tools in Adolescents and Young Adults with Type 1 Diabetes
A study screened adolescents and young adults with Type 1 diabetes for common mental health disorders using Beck's Depression Inventory, the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED-41), and an eating-disorder screen for primary care. More than one-third of screened patients were diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or disordered eating (Bernstein et al., 2013).
