Principle of Downward-Sloping Altruistic Indifference Curves
An indifference curve for an altruistic individual slopes downwards because their utility depends positively on the well-being of others in addition to their own. This negative slope signifies that they are willing to accept a reduction in their own share of a resource in exchange for an increase in another's share, as this trade-off can keep their overall satisfaction constant.
