Prophetic Servitude as Spiritual Honor and the Purification of the Kaaba in Jami's Selselat al-Dhahab

In Section 3 of Jami's Selselat al-Dhahab (from the Haft Awrang), the poet presents a na't (prophetic praise) centered on two major theological and mystical themes:

  1. The Paradox of Spiritual Servitude: Jami describes servitude (bandagi) to the Prophet Muhammad as the ultimate source of honor, portraying his yoke of servitude as a collar of exaltation (tavq) for the noble and free. This spiritual submission elevates the servant above worldly monarchs.
  2. The Cleansing of the Path of Faith: The poem highlights the Prophet's role in purifying the Kaaba by eradicating idols (botan). By clearing these physical and spiritual obstacles, he transformed the 'stony path' of religion into a wide and welcoming arena for true seekers of God, restoring the sublime status of the station of Abraham (maqam-i Khalil).
