Pulseless Electrical Activity (PEA)

Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) refers to an arrhythmia in which there is electrical activity in the heart, but it is too weak to cause the heart to pump and create a pulse, leading to cardiac arrest. Since PEA is non-shockable, it must be treated immediately through other means besides defibrillation such as CPR or medication, or it can lead to sudden cardiac death.
