In Section 73 of Jami's Haft Awrang, the Twenty-Second Knot presents Qurb (proximity) as the station in which the wayfarer's existence is wholly immersed in the essence of union (عین جمع). Jami warns that true proximity is no possession to boast of: whoever feels secure in their own nearness is in fact utterly distant, and when nearness is granted one must sit back in humble adab. The pakbazan (پاکبازان, the pure-players) who truly struck the note of proximity withdrew from the dark pit of the material world, cast off the four elements — treading upon water, rising above wind, passing through fire like smoke — and folded up the pages of the heavens. The station culminates in the wayfarer being absent from all things, and finally absent even from the attribute of proximity itself, so that only the Divine remains.
