Radio Broadcasting as a Public Good

A radio broadcast serves as a clear example of a public good. After the initial cost of producing and transmitting a program is incurred, it can be made available to one listener or many. The addition of new listeners incurs no extra cost for the provider and does not diminish the quality of the broadcast for existing listeners. Therefore, the program remains a public good regardless of whether it is offered by a public or private entity.
