Rationale for Using Nominal GDP in Ratios

It is standard practice to use nominal values for both the numerator and denominator when calculating economic shares relative to GDP. This applies to various metrics, including the shares of different types of expenditure (like consumption), the contributions of different industries, and income shares. By measuring both parts of the ratio in current prices, the effects of inflation are cancelled out. This neutralization of price changes means the resulting share is effectively a real measure, allowing for meaningful comparisons across time and countries.
