Meta-analyses show that people with C-PTSD have reduced volume in the hippocampus and the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). These two regions are central to emotional regulation, memory, and learning, so their reduced volume is linked to many of the emotional and functional symptoms seen in C-PTSD.
