Separating Warranty Repairs from Chargeable Follow-Up Work

A callback counts as warranty work only when the problem comes from the contractor's own installation and falls within the contract or product warranty period, so the repair is completed without an extra charge. If the issue is caused by later damage, another trade, customer misuse, added work outside the original scope, or a deadline that has already passed, it should be treated as new billable work. Keep the signed scope of work, warranty language, and any manufacturer terms in the job file so the technician can compare the complaint with the contract and explain the decision using written records.
