The Divine Breaths (Nafahat) of Grace
In Section 147 of Jami's Haft Awrang (Subhat al-Abrar), the poet elaborates on the famous prophetic Hadith: 'Indeed, in the days of your lifetime, your Lord has breaths of grace; oh, expose yourselves to them.' Jami describes these divine breaths as supreme spiritual breezes from the Divine. Even if a seeker is weighed down by mountains of sorrow and grief, a single passing breath of divine grace has the power to carry all those burdens away.
The Necessity of Spiritual Vigilance
Jami contrasts the spiritually awake with those lost in the sleep of heedlessness (ghaflah). He compares the negligent seeker to a sleeping person who remains entirely unaware of the morning breeze and the fragrance of roses. The poet emphasizes that these divine breaths are specifically destined for the awake (bīdārān) and serve as a healing remedy for the spiritually ill (bīmārān).
