Steeper Slope of MSC Compared to MPC

The marginal social cost (MSC) curve has a steeper upward slope than the marginal private cost (MPC) curve. This is a direct consequence of MSC being the sum of MPC and the marginal external cost (MEC), where both MPC and MEC are also increasing with the quantity of output.
