Steps of the Scientific Method

The scientific method involves deriving hypotheses from theories and then testing those hypotheses. The progression follows a specific flow: beginning with a theory, researchers generate a hypothesis, collect data, analyze data, and summarize data and report findings. If the results are consistent with the theory, the findings confirm the theory. If the results are not consistent, the theory should be modified, which leads back to generating a new hypothesis.
